BOTTEGA S.P.A. SUSTAINABILITY REPORT PREVIEW
12 May 2023In an increasingly worrying climate context, we continue to invest in environmental sustainability, with the consciousness that a green business must set increasingly ambitious goals.
We are proud to present some previews of the most salient data from our Sustainability Report 2022, which will be published next July.
In detail, the following points emerge:
- Reduced water consumption from 4.4 liters in 2021 to 2.31 liters in 2022 for every liter of wine produced.
- Water used for geothermal energy reduced from 314,140 m3 in 2021 to 230,147 m3 in 2022. Due to high winter temperatures, more limited heating was used. We also modulated air conditioning according to the number of people in the office. In each case, groundwater withdrawn is then fed back into the cycle.
- Introduction of advanced systems that purify 100% of the cooling water of the compressor systems, for a total used of 7,410 lt/year. It should therefore be emphasized that the reference water remains pure at the end of the run.
- Decrease in the consumption of electricity required to produce one liter of wine, grappa and liquor. In detail, there has been a decrease from 0.29 kWh in 2020, to 0.23 kWh in 2021, to 0.18 kWh in 2022 for each liter of wine, grappa, or liquor produced. A good part of this energy is self-generated with photovoltaic system to the extent of 40%. An expansion is also planned, which will presumably lead to an increase of up to 80% in the months between April and October.
- Reduced detergent consumption: -43% in 2022
- Decreased nitrogen consumption: -32% in 2022
We have also started tracking the environmental impact of major suppliers (packaging, transportation, etc…) so as to stimulate them to continue on this path.
