Brunello di Montalcino DOCG Bottega Benvenuto Brunello 2024

Brunello di Montalcino Bottega among the 10 most significant labels

29 November 2024

On the occasion of Benvenuto Brunello 2024, 8 Masters of Wine were invited to taste samples of the latest vintage:

Italy – Gabriele Gorelli and Andrea Lonardi

Sweden – Madeleine Stenwreth

UK – Justin Knock and Michelle Cherutti-Kowal

France – Tracey Dobbin

Germany – Frank Roeder

United States – Philip Goodband

The Masters of Wine tasted 57 samples of Brunello di Montalcino vintage 2020 and Brunello di Montalcino Riserva vintage 2019. Of the 456 personal tasting notes from each MW, one was then written for each wine, summarising the analysis of these top wine experts.

Il Vino dei Poeti Brunello di Montalcino Docg Bottega vintage 2020 was selected among the 10 most significant labels of the vintage, with the following tasting note: ‘Clear on the nose, with crisp fruit, it expresses its youthfulness with silky tannins on the palate.
Lovely freshness, great potential for evolution.’

About Benvenuto Brunello

Every year, the Consorzio del Brunello di Montalcino organises ‘Benvenuto Brunello’ to present and evaluate the wines of the latest vintage, shortly before they are released on the market. Benvenuto Brunello 2024 was held in mid-November at the Cloisters of the Sant’Agostino Museum, a prestigious setting for this event of international relevance. Inside the Sant’Agostino complex, the Cloister is in fact the starting point of the Tempio del Brunello, a journey of discovery of the king of Montalcino, including virtual reality, immersive videos, interviews and colour panels.

Bottega winery in Montalcino

The Bottega winery in Montalcino is located in Pian delle Vigne, in the south-west part of the denomination, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004. 83 hectares, 75 of which are wooded and 8 planted with vines, make up the property, which includes a 19th-century Sienese cassero now housing the winery. Here the wines mature between two and four years, partly in barrels and partly in bottles, depending on the type.
